In 1981, Eve and Larry Dismang established Folie a Deux just north of St Helena in the Napa Valley. Folie a Deux is French for “shared fantasies.” In 1995, the Dismangs sold their winery to a group of partners, who in turn sold to Trinchero Family Estates in 2004.

Folie a Deux owns 13 acres of Estate Cabernet Sauvignon vines north of the town of St Helena and south of Calistoga. This vineyard was replanted in 1995. The soil is rocky and unfertile. It is broken into 3 distinct vineyard blocks which are blended for the final bottling.

The Folie a Deux 2003 Amador County Zinfandel is made with grapes grown in the Sierra Foothills’ Shenandoah Valley. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak for 14 months. This is a beautifully balanced wine with nice acidity and an alcohol level of 14.2%.

Folie a Deux also makes the Menage a Trois red, white, and rose blends. The Menage a Trois 2005 White is a blend of Chardonnay, Muscat, and Chenin Blanc. These 3 grapes go together quite well.
