Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Fogarty Winery makes many different wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Barbera, Chardonnay, and Gewurztraminer. Dr. Fogarty also makes dessert and sparkling wines as well as some more obscure varietals.

The 25 acre estate vineyard at Fogarty Winery is planted mainly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Merlot and Sangiovese are grown to a lesser extent. At 2,000 feet above sea level, the vineyard receives abundant sun exposure and is cooled by ocean breezes. Dr. Fogarty also buys grapes from other growers.

The 2000 Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon is a supple wine with restrained strength. It is made with 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot. It has a dark color and should benefit with several years of age.

Another great wine is the Fogarty 2001 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It is made with 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc. Like the previous wine, it was produced in limited quantities.

I work here, and I'd like to add that we now make an estate Syrah that is incredible--with pepper and spice, bright fruits, and mountain tannins to make it last the long haul.

p.s. Is there any way to change this to Thomas Fogarty Winery? Usually listed under T...

That Syrah sounds amazing. I'm going to have to try it out. Have you already released it, or is it comming soon? I noticed that its not listed on calwineries, you guys should add it if its available.

Sorry, you guys...we only made 72 cases. Due to a fantastic review in Wine Enthusiast and my own praise singing, it's gone. But I sampled the 2004 a few months back and thought it was even better. I'll let you know when it's out, though it will probably be a winery exclusive. Of course, I invite everyone to come up for a complimentary tasting (just let me know when you want to visit).

Too bad about the '03... a day late, a dollar short...the story of my life, haha! I would love to visit your winery, that sounds great.

I'm with Steve, very dissapointed that its gone, but looking forward to the 04. Please keep us in the loop. Thanks Farley!

Big fan of Fogarty's wines. Looking to get my hands on some f their new Chards. Any reccomendations?

December 28, 2006 | Farley

The 2003 Reserve Estate Chard is my favorite (and I don't usually like Chardonnay)...it's got enough buttery richness to appease oak lovers, but the minerality and fruit aren't overwhelmed. We also just released 4 single-vineyard Chards that are worth looking into. (Only at the winery, sorry)

WinO4life - Although i havent tried their new vineyard designate chards, their estate reserve is great place to start.
