Flowers Vineyard & Winery is comprised of Camp Meeting Ridge, Frances Thompson Vineyard, and Sea View Ridge Vineyard. The winery also sources grapes from four vineyards that are tended to Walt and Joan’s rigorous standards.
Before entering the wine industry, the Walt and Joan Flowers owned a nursery in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In 1990, the Flowers bought 321 acres on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They built a gravity-flow winery in 1997.
Flowers Ranch is planted with grapes at elevations ranging between 1,150 and 1,400 feet above sea level. This property is only about two miles from the coast and is regularly influenced by cooling wind and fog. However, because of the elevation, the fog usually burns off by late morning and the grapes are able to bask in warm sunshine.
In Spring, 2007, Flowers Vineyard & Winery released the following wines: 2005 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, 2005 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, 2005 Camp Meeting Ridge Chardonnay, 2005 Camp Meeting Ridge Pinot Noir, 2005 Grand Bouquet Pinot Noir, 2005 DZ Vineyard Pinot Noir, and 2005 Perennial (blend of 85% Pinot Noir, 13% Syrah, 1% Pinot Meunier, and 1% Chardonnay).
