Elizabeth Vineyards

Elizabeth Vineyards was established in 1969 in the Redwood Valley AVA and has always been a family run operation. They sell most of their fruit to other producers, but have been making small amounts of their own wine since 1987. Elizabeth Vineyards currently makes about 1,000 cases of Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc.

Elizabeth Vineyards is a 412 acre property that is planted with 80 acres of grapevines. After years of selling all of their grapes to other wineries, Elizabeth Vineyards’ first vintage of 500 cases was made in 1987.
Their wines are made in limited quantities and they can be difficult to find outside of Mendocino County. They are primarily available at local wine retailers and restaurants. The winery still continues to sell much of its fruit to high-quality producers.
Elizabeth Vineyards currently has 2 wines available. The 2002 Zinfandel is made entirely with estate grapes from old vines grown at 1,100 feet above sea-level. It was aged for 14 months in a combination of French and American oak.
This is not an overpowering Zin; you can actually drink it with food. 625 cases were produced. At under $20, it is an excellent value.
Only 450 cases of the 2002 Sauvignon Blanc were made. It has citrus flavors with a hint of vanilla from the being barrel fermented in French oak. Again, the price is hard to beat. This wine costs only $12; but the difficulty lies in finding it.
