Echelon Vineyards

The Chalone Wine Group has been producing premium quality wines since the late 1960s. Because of the high demand for their wine, they decided to launch a side project. This evolved into Echelon Vineyards, which released its first vintage in 1997.

Because Echelon is a part of the well established Chalone Group, they are able to utilize their parent companies many relationships with vineyard owners throughout the state. But the winery focuses on making wine with grapes from the Central Coast AVA. Winemaker Tom Westberg works closely with these growers to ensure the highest quality product.

Echelon produces Shiraz with grapes grown in their Estate Esperanza Vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA. They buy Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Salinas Valley. Echelon also makes prized Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with fruit from the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA.
