Steven Ehlers Jr., Brett Ehlers, and Elishia Ehlers are the current owners of E2 Family Winery. They make Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, a Port-style wine, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Verdelho. Annual production is 4,500 cases.
The 2002 Delta Island Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has cherry and plum flavors with a hint of smoke and tobacco from being aged in oak barrels. The Ehlers Family recommends drinking this wine alone or with a, “prime select portion of beef.”
E2’s 2002 Porto is made with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This wine has won several awards including the 2005 San Francisco Chronicle “Best of Class” Gold Medal, 2005 Los Angeles County Fair Wine Competition Silver Medal, and 2005 Dallas Daily New Wine Competition Silver Medal.
The 2003 E2 Zinfandel has just a touch of residual sugar at .03%. This is a spicy wine with dark fruit flavors. It won the Bronze Medal at the 2005 California State Fair and is quite affordable at $16 a bottle.
