DeBurca Winery is owned and operated by husband and wife, Dermot and Darice Bourke. The couple bought their land in 1997 and planted it with grapes the following year. Their first harvest was in 2000.

DeBurca Winery is based in the town of Forestville in the Green Valley sub-AVA. Green Valley is the coolest and westernmost part of the larger Russian River Valley AVA in Central Sonoma County.

Dermot and Darice’s estate vineyard is named Cooper’s Mill. It is planted with Dijon and Pommard clones of Pinot Noir. The property’s alluvial soils drain very well and the local microclimate is influenced by cooling wind and fog from the Pacific Ocean. Dermot and Darice recently planted another vineyard in Forestville, and also source Syrah from Rockin H Ranch in the Sonoma Coast AVA.

The 2003 DeBurca Russian River Valley Cooper’s Mill Pinot Noir was made from estate grown, handpicked fruit. Special attention was paid to balancing the fruit, acidity, and alcohol in this wine. 320 cases were produced.

The 2004 DeBurca Sonoma Coast Rockin H Ranch Syrah was made from purchased grapes grown near the Petaluma River. During fermentation, this cap of this wine was punched down by hand 3 times a day. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak.
