Dascomb Cellars is home to one of California’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. The Dascomb family purchased the property in 1974 and began working the vineyards. The grapes supplied many Santa Ynez Valley vineyards over the ensuing years. As other vineyards replaced Cabernet vines with other varietals, the Dascombs believed in terroir of the valley to produce excellent Cabernet Sauvignon.
The estate vineyard is known as East Valley Vineyard. The Dascombs’ wines were manufactured under East Valley until 2008 when Dascomb Cellars was formed. Dascomb produces Rhone, Burgundy, Bordeaux and Italian wines. All lots are small and produced by hand. The tasting room is located in Solvang and features a gift shop.
Dascomb has established its name for its Pinot Gris. This varietal is noted for its fruity and creamy balance. Its flagship varietal is its Cabernet Sauvignon. It is considered complex yet pure in structure, a complement to the terroir of the vineyards. Visitors to the tasting room can try the famous Cabernet Sauvignon, the Pinot Noir, the Syrah, the Sangiovese and its whites and blends.
