Dalla Valle Vineyard

In 1982, Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle established Dalla Valle Vineyard. Unless you are good friends with a generous individual on the winery’s mailing list, these wines are more or less impossible to get.

Gustav came from a family that had grown grapes in Italy for nearly two centuries. Gustav passed away in 1995, and his wife Naoko now runs the winery with the help of winemaker Mia Klein.
Named after Gustav and Naoko’s daughter, the 16 acre Maya’s Vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese. The property is located at an elevation of 400 feet off of Silverado Trail in the eastern hills of the Oakville AVA. The soils of the vineyard are compact and quite dense. They are largely volcanic with sand, loam, and red clay mixed in.
Dalla Valle Vineyard makes two different wines. They produce 2,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon that is blended with a bit of Cab Franc and aged in French oak barrels. Only 500 cases of “Maya” are made each year which is also a Cab and Cab Franc blend.
