Mark as Favorite

Creekview Vineyards was established in 2005 and released their first vintage in 2007. The winery and vineyards are situated in the hillsides just east of the town of San Martin in the Santa Clara Valley wine region.

Owners Gregory and Teri Peterson started making wine in their late teens. They continued for over 25 years and started entering their wines in competitions in 2002. Gregory and Teri’s wines consistently did extremely well and won many awards. The overwhelming critical acclaim they received convinced them to bond their winery in 2005.

Gregory and Teri Peterson own a 1.5 acre estate vineyard on the same property as their winery. It is planted with Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Syrah and Chardonnay. The Petersons also purchase grapes from other local vineyard owners.

Creekview Vineyards has released 3 commercially available wines to date, each from the 2005 vintage. These include Creekview’s 2005 Old Vine Zinfandel, 2005 Estate Zinfandel and 2005 Syrah. Each is made in extremely limited quantities and meticulously handcrafted. Total production in 2005 was only 300 cases.

The 2005 Old Vine Zinfandel (77% Zinfandel and 23% Mourvedre) was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Bay Area Zinfandel Challenge. It was aged in new American oak for 17 months and has 14% alcohol. This wine was made from highly prized Zinfandel and Mourvedre vines that are over 100 years old. It has aromas of plums and cranberries with flavors of bramble berries and black pepper.

The Creekview Vineyards 2005 Estate Zinfandel won a Gold Medal in the Indy International Wine Challenge. At 14% alcohol, this is a balanced Zin with delicious flavors of cherry and raspberry. It was aged for 16 months in a combination of new American oak and seasoned Hungarian oak which gives it a hint of vanilla on the palate.

In addition to these 2 excellent Zinfandels, Creekview Vineyards has also released their 2005 Syrah. This is a beautifully made Syrah that goes well with a variety of foods. It was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Indy International Wine Challenge.

For the 2006 vintage, Creekview also began making a Chardonnay, raising the production to 500 cases. Along with their ownership duties, Gregory and Teri are also the winemakers. Creekview Vineyards is truly a family owned and operated winery.
