Clos LaChance

Mark as Favorite

Clos LaChance makes a number of wines with grapes sourced from various AVAs. Owners Bill and Brenda Murphy produce an excellent Chardonnay with grapes from the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Clos LaChance is owned by Bill and Brenda Murphy. The couple originally planted Chardonnay vines in their backyard and made wine for their friends. In 1992, they produced their first commercial vintage.

The Clos LaChance Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay is a great value. This wine’s high acidity mingles beautifully with its concentrated fruit flavors and subtle oak. Bill and Brenda Murphy also make wine with grapes from the Sierra Foothills. Their El Dorado Zinfandel is a medium bodied, fruit driven wine with velvety tannins.

Clos LaChance also buys Chardonnay grapes from Vanumanutagi Vineyard, which is owned by Fernwood Cellars. This is a single vineyard Chardonnay that has no residual sugar, but tastes slightly sweet because of its pronounced cinnamon and vanilla notes from being aged in oak. This is balanced by crisp, citrus flavors.
