On a weekend trip from their bustling homes in San Jose, long time friends Claudia and Bob Klindt and Claudia and Warren Hein visited a beautiful area of Mendocino County and immediately feel in love. During this trip, they discovered 20 acres of land for sale and a seed was planted in their minds.
Bob Klindt had won several medals at home winemaking wine competitions, so they were confident that they could make an impact in the local wine industry.
In their first year, they produced 550 cases of Chardonnay. Although they did not bring the world to its feet in this first vintage, it set the stage for what was to come. All of Claudia Springs Winery’s potential came to fruition in 2001 and 2002 when their Zinfandels took home prestigious awards.
Their Zinfandel was named to the “Wine Enthusiast List of Top 100 Wines of the Year.” If this wasn’t enough, the very next year their Zinfandels were on Wine Enthusiast’s “Best Buy List” and “Best Buy at any Price List.”
Today, Claudia Springs continues to produce award winning wines. Their 2004 Klindt Vineyard Pinot Gris is their third vintage of this varietal from their vineyards. It is more than living up to the success that their previous vintages achieved.
