Unique among Temecula’s wineries, Churon Winery also features an inn. The chateau of the Inn at Churon Winery features rooms that overlook the 11 acres of vineyards, private terraces and balconies and fireplaces. Guests enjoy a private wine hour in the evening. For the visitor seeking a day trip, the tasting room offers a deli restaurant and a gift shop.
Churon Winery can host any number of specials events, such as weddings and private parties. Guests of the inn also may choose to take advantage of a hot air balloon package and drift high above the hills of Temecula wine country. Owners Ron and Judy Thomas have sought to create a French country chateau among the estates vineyards and gardens. The tasting room is located at the bottom of a marble staircase and features their full list of wines. Some of the varietals that Churon Winery produces are Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Grigio and Merlot. Additionally, the winery offers a 5-course fine dining experience on Fridays and Saturdays. This reservation only dining opportunity features gourmet food that is paired carefully with appropriate wines.
The estates winemaker, Benny Rodriguez, has helped Churon Winery produce several award-winning wines. Inland Empire Magazine awarded “best of” recognition to the 2003 Vin Rouge, the 2004 Syrah and the 2006 Chocolate Bliss. The 2005 Syrah received a silver medal and the 2006 Malbec received a bronze medal at the Orange County Fair. Other consistently popular selections include Sweet Orange Muscat, a dessert wine, the Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
