Castoro Cellars

Castoro Cellars makes a variety of wines, but is best known for its Zinfandel. It is made in a relatively light style, but does not lack flavor concentration. Castoro’s Tempranillo and Pinot Blanc are also very good.

Founded by Niels and Bimmer Udsen, Castro Cellars is located in the heart of Paso Robles. The winery owns seven distinct vineyards in the region. Additionally, they buy grapes from over 40 properties in California.
The winery produces around 20,000 cases of wine a year, and has a very extensive selection. Castoro Cellars has a tasting room and a shop that sells gourmet foods and gifts.
The 2005 Fume Blanc is a delightful wine that pairs well with seafood dishes. Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, fresh varietal with naturally high acidity. A bit of this wine was barrel aged sur lie to round out the edges.
The Castoro Cellars 2004 Pinot Blanc is made with grapes from the famous Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria AVA. This is a wonderfully complex wine that is also a very good value. Other interesting wines that Castoro makes include Tempranillo, Gewurztraminer, and Muscat Canelli.
