Caldwell Vineyard

Caldwell Vineyard was established by John Caldwell after the city of Napa refused to let him build a high end subdivision in the Coombsville region. This was a blessing in disguise for wine lovers.

John Caldwell’s family has been in the grape growing business for over 120 years. In 1982, he planted his first vines. Three years later, he harvested Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Pahlmeyer Winery has bought grapes from Caldwell Vineyard since the 1990s. Pahlmeyer’s premium wines really put the property on the map, and demand for Caldwell’s grapes has steadily increased.
In 1998, the winery made its inaugural vintage under the Caldwell Vineyard label. About 400 cases of a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah blend were made. Production has since increased slightly, but still remains under 1,000 cases a year.
