Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Winery

Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Winery is one of the most historic vineyards in the Sonoma Valley AVA. Located in the town of Glen Ellen, the property is planted with some extremely old Zinfandel vines.

Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Winery is on land that was originally settled by William McPherson Hill in 1851. McPherson was one of California’s first great vintners and was famous in his day for Zinfandel.

The property was split up and changed hands several times in the ensuing decades. In 1981, Anne and Otto Teller purchased the vineyard. For several years the couple sold all of their grapes to Joel Peterson of Ravenswood Winery.

In 2000, Anne’s 4 children established a winery on the property. They currently produce about 600 cases of wine a year and continue selling grapes to Ravenswood for a vineyard designate Zinfandel.

Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Winery currently produces small amounts of four different wines from Old Hill Ranch, Compagni Portis Vineyard, and Bald Mountain Ranch. These include the 2004 Old Hill Ranch Zinfandel, 2004 Old Hill Ranch Mixed Blacks Red Wine, 2005 Compagni Portis Vineyard Gewurztraminer, and 2003 Bald Mountain Ranch Syrah.
