Briar Rose Winery
Set among the hills, Briar Rose Winery is Temecula’s first reservation-only winery. This unique system enables the visitor to enjoy a table-side tasting experience. Visitors choose from a flight of standard or premium wines on an estate originally designed by Beldon Fields, who helped create Disneyland in the 1950s. The Disney fan also will marvel at the replica Snow White’s Cottage.
Les Linkogle purchased the estate in the 1980s as a gift to his wife Dorian. Since then, the Linkogles have worked to create wines of supreme character that reflect the idyllic setting of the estate. Mr. and Mrs. Linkogle have presented several Briar Rose selections to the White House, former Vice-President Dick Chaney’s home and the Library of Congress. Briar Rose Winery also prides itself on its membership in the California Cabernet Society.
Briar Rose Winery produces about 2,400 cases of wine each year. The grapes are grown on 23 acres of vineyards. These handpicked varieties include Tempranillo, Riesling, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Viognier and Zinfandel. The Linkogles also produce a Viognier with a distinct citrus flavor that is the result of introducing Meyer lemons during the winemaking process. This Viognier is referred to as Citronier. Another blend of the Viognier includes a Hefeweizen lager. This creation is their Talking Frog wine lager. These blends, premium wines, specialized tasting experience and the storybook setting distinguish Briar Rose from many other boutique wineries.
