Blair Fox Cellars
Blair Fox studied Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis. He returned to his home in Santa Barbara and found the area was planted with Rhone style grapes. He went on to travel to the Rhone region of France in order to gain further knowledge of these wines. He soon found himself working with Shiraz in Australia. He further learned how terroir is significant to a wine’s character.
Eventually, Mr. Fox was awarded winemaker of the year at the 2008 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Because Blair Fox Cellars remains a small winery, production is extremely limited. Although wines are available for purchase at the Los Olivos tasting room, most releases sell out. Blair Fox wines consistently receive high points, accolades and awards.
Blair Fox Cellars sources from multiple vineyards throughout the area. The Paradise Road Vineyard is an excellent place for Syrah and Viognier. The Purisima Mountain Vineyard is maintained in a biodynamic manner. Thompson Vineyard consistently produces high quality grapes. The Tierra Alta Vineyard produces Syrah grapes. The Fox Family Vineyard practices sustainable agriculture and is noted to be Blair Fox Cellars’ estate vineyard.
The Blair Fox Cellars tasting room is in downtown Los Olivos. Groups and private tastings are available by appointment. Members of the wine club receive priority on new releases and free wine tastings.
