In 1978, Jacques de Connick founded Beaucanon Winery in Rutherford. He planted his first vineyard in 1980 and built his original winery in 1987. These production facilities were in St Helena, and were capable of making large quantities of wine.
Jacques on, Louis, is now the winemaker at Beaucanon. The Connick Family owns 203 acres of grapes on two distinct properties. Located in Rutherford, the 94 acre Longwood Ranch is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Their St Helena Vineyard encompasses 109 acres. The soils are made of loam over a rocky outcrop. Turley, Rombauer, Grace Family, and Duckhorn are all neighbors in this excellent microclimate.
The Longwood Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is a concentrated wine made with grapes from the Rutherford AVA. Beaucanon’s Ehlers Lane Chardonnay is a full bodied white wine. Both are single vineyard bottlings.
