B.R. Cohn Winery

Mark as Favorite

Established in 1984, B.R. Cohn Winery is located in the Sonoma Valley AVA. In addition to running his winery, Bruce Cohn is also the long-time manager of the Doobie Brothers.

Region: Sonoma County
Sub Region: Sonoma Valley

B.R. Cohn Winery’s estate property is Olive Hill Vineyards. Olive Hill is planted with 61 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Petite Sirah. The winery also sources Chardonnay from the Carneros AVA.

Olive Hill Vineyards is a remarkable property that is warmed by nearby hot springs. These springs heat the well-drained, gravelly soil, making early spring frosts a non-issue.

Winemaker Tim Montgomery’s current releases include the 2005 Carneros Chardonnay, 2004 Doobie Red (Cabernet Sauvignon), 2003 Olive Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 2004 Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2004 Sonoma Valley Merlot.

The 2004 Doobie Red Series is a collection of three labels that is made to commemorate three decades of Doobie Brothers music. This wine is aged in 100% French oak and has 14.0% alcohol. A percentage of the sales of Doobie Red is donated to the National Veterans Foundation.
