August Briggs Winery is located near the town of Calistoga in the Northern Napa Valley. Winemaker and owner August “Joe” Briggs buys grapes from several vineyards in Sonoma and Napa. He specializes in Pinot Noir.

August “Joe” Briggs is the winemaker and owner of August Briggs Winery. He recently built a production facility and opened a tasting room in the town of Calistoga. But he has been making wines under the August Briggs label for over a decade.
In 1984, Briggs graduated from Fresno St. with a degree in Enology. Over the next several years, he worked for wineries in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and La Crema Winery in the Russian River Valley AVA. He began building his winery in 2002 and completed it in 2004.
Briggs sources grapes from a number of excellent vineyards including Chardonnay from Leveroni Vineyard in Carneros, Chardonnay from Lazy W Vineyard in Russian River Valley, Pinot Noir from Sinskey Vineyard in Carneros, Pinot Noir from Hedin Vineyard in Russian River Valley, Pinot Noir from Pleasant Hill Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, and Pinot Meunier from Frediani Vineyard in Napa Valley.
He also buys Cab from Monte Rosso Vineyard, Diamond Mountain, and Spring Mountain as well as Syrah from Page Nord Vineyard in Napa Valley, Petite Sirah from Black Rock Vineyard in Clear Lake, Zinfandel from Frediani Vineyard in Napa Valley and Zinfandel from Brogan Vineyard in Napa Valley.

Visited August Briggs last week. Out of all the wineries I've visited over a 20 year span, this was my favorite experience. Pleasant, knowledgeable staff...."Joe's" dad is hilarious...what a character!!! The wine was spectacular and the barrel tasting showed the jewels that are coming down the pipe, so to speak!!! I can whole heartedly recommend visiting August Briggs...in fact it's a MUST visit!!!
