Ancien Wines is a small producer based in Carneros that specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Founded by Ken and Teresa Bernards, Ancien makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with grapes grown in several different vineyards.
Ken also works as a winemaking consultant for other wineries. He has a talent for bringing out the best in a specific property’s grapes.
Ancien’s Carneros Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from Toyon Ranch Vineyard and Vella Ranch Vineyard. This is a fruit forward wine with striking minerality. Ancien also produces a Carneros Pinot Noir made with grapes grown at Toyon Ranch Vineyard.
In addition to Carneros, Ancien makes Pinot Noir from other AVAs. These include Sonoma Mountain, Russian River, and the Santa Rita Hills. They also make a Pinot with grapes grown at the base of Mount George in the Coombsville region.
