Amuse Bouche, French for, “amusement for the mouth,” is located in the St Helena AVA. Famed winemaker Heidi Barrett produces a single Merlot/Cabernet Franc each year in the style of Pomerol on the Right Bank of the Gironde. Each label features original artwork.
The 2002 Amuse Bouche is a blend of Merlot from a small, 3 acre vineyard and Cabernet Franc from Oakville. As is the case with all of Amuse Bouche’s wines, it was aged in French oak before bottling. Heidi Barrett made 3,000 cases of this inaugural vintage.
The winery recently released the 2004 vintage which was a warm growing season especially around harvest. Yields were lower than average and the grapes were ready to be picked a few weeks earlier than the norm. Artist Ira Yeager created the artwork for this wine’s label.
