Amici Cellars

Mark as Favorite

Amici Cellars began in 1991 with Jeff Hansen and several of his friends. The first vintage they released to the public was their 1992 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Region: Napa Valley
Sub Region: Rutherford
Wine: View all wines

Amici Cellars is located in Rutherford, but buys grapes grown in several different AVAs. Winemaker Jeff Hansen sources grapes from Panek, Borges, and Chow Vineyards in St Helena, Alioto Vineyard in Rutherford, Domaine Beau Soleil Vineyard in Calistoga, Schmidt Vineyard in Oak Knoll, and a Pinot Noir vineyard in Mendocino County.

The 2003 Zinfandel is made with grapes from Panek Vineyard. It is a jammy and spicy, fruit forward Zin without an overpowering amount of alcohol.

Amici’s 2003 Pinot Noir was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 20 months. The grapes used to make this wine were grown in a small vineyard in the Coastal Mountain Range above the town of Mendocino. Jeff Hansen recommends aging this wine for 7-10 years so it can fully reach its potential.

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 3% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. It was aged in 45% new French oak barrels for 2 years. 1,600 cases of this vintage were produced.
