Russian River Valley Wineries (Back to overview)

Russian River Valley has many wineries located in a variety of climates. This is a large wine region that covers over 150 square miles in Sonoma County.
Fanucchi Vineyards
In 1992, Peter Fanucchi established Fanucchi Vineyards in the Russian River Valley. His parents originally moved to the area in 1972. He produces old-vine Zinfandel and a rare varietal named Trousseau Gris.
Kosta Browne Winery
Kosta Browne Winery is a small producer that specializes in Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands, Sonoma Coast, and Russian River Valley. They are located in the town of Sebastopol in Sonoma County.
J Vineyards & Winery
J Vineyards & Winery was founded by Judy Jordan in 1986. Specializing in cooler weather varietals, J produces a brut sparkling wine as well as still versions of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.
Williams Selyem
Williams Selyem makes some of the most highly sought after Pinot Noir of any winery in California. These are some of the most difficult wines to acquire in the Golden State. In addition to Pinot Noir, the winery also makes Chardonnay and Zinfandel.
Siduri Wines
Siduri Wines is an outstanding producer of Pinot Noir. They make 21 different bottlings of this grape each year, many of them from single vineyards. Each is made in very small quantities, and reflects the local land and climate.
Merry Edwards Wines
Merry Edwards Wines is a small Russian River Valley winery that specializes in Pinot Noir. Merry Edwards' 2003 Klopp Ranch Methode a Lancienne Pinot Noir was recently ranked #21 on Wine Spectator’s 2006 Top 100 List.
Paradise Ridge
Located in the Russian River Valley, Paradise Ridge offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Owners Walter and Marijke Byck have a love for life and it comes through in their thoughtfully produced wines.
Dain Wines
Dain Wines is a unique wine label that is a group of winemakers that source grapes from a number of different vineyards. Dain is best known for limited-producetion Pinot Noir and Syrah.
La Crema Winery
Located in the Russian River Valley AVA, La Crema Winery is a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay specialist. Additionally, La Crema makes some outstanding wines with grapes from the Sonoma Coast, Carneros, and Anderson Valley AVAs.
Belvedere Winery
Belvedere Winery is located near the town of Healdsburg. Troy McEnery and Melissa Bates are the winemakers. They both have extensive resumes and makes excellent wines from several AVAs.
August West Wine
August West Wine is a partnership between 3 of California’s most venerable Pinot Noir specialists: Gary Franscioni, Ed Kurtzman, and Howard Graham. Kurtzman is the winemaker and Franscioni and Graham provide grapes from their family vineyards.
Christopher Creek Winery
Christopher Creek Winery is located near Healdsburg and produces 4500 cases of wine a year. Winemaker Chris Russi graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Enology and Viticulture.
Chasseur
French for, “Hunter,” Chasseur is owned and operated by winemaker Bill Hunter. Mr. Hunter established his label in 1994, and currently produces about 3,000 cases of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay each year.
Arista Winery
In 2002, John Copeland and Al McWilliams established Arista Winery. They focus on several small production Pinot Noirs, but also make Zinfandel, Gewurztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc.
DeLoach Vineyards
DeLoach Vineyards produces many different varietals, but is particularly known for Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. The winery is located in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley AVA.
Frei Brothers
Andrew Frei arrived in Sonoma County during the late 1880s. He bought his first vineyards from Charles Dunz in 1890 and was soon producing over 20,000 cases of wine a year. In 1903, Walter and Luis Frei took over the newly named Frei Brothers Winery. E & J Gallo Winery purchased the wine producer in 1978.
Hop Kiln Winery
Hop Kiln Winery is located in the Middle Reach part of Russian River Valley. The Middle Reach is the heart of this famous Sonoma County AVA. Hop Kiln specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Inman Family
The Inman Family produces very small lots of two classic French varietals: Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. All of their wines are made with estate grown grapes from the Russian River Valley AVA.
Halleck Vineyard
Halleck Vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley AVA. Ross and Jennifer Halleck planted their tiny, one acre vineyard in 1993 and had their first full harvest in 1999.
Balletto Vineyards
Balletto Vineyards consists of 100 acres of Chardonnay, 60 acres of Pinot Noir, and 5 acres of Pinot Gris. John Balletto has been farming grapes and vegetables in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley AVA since 1977.
Bannister Wines
Marty Bannister is the owner and winemaker of Bannister Wines. She produces small amounts of handcrafted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with grapes grown in the Russian River Valley AVA.
Battaglini Estate
Located in Central Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley AVA, Battaglini Estate produces Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Chardonnay. This family-owned and operated winery was established in 1994.
Acorn Winery
Acorn Winery makes Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, a Syrah-based blend called “Axium,” Rosato, Sangiovese, Dolcetto, and a blend called “Medley” which is different each vintage. Bill and Betsy Nachbaur established the winery in 1994.
De La Montanya Vineyards & Winery
De La Montanya Vineyards & Winery is located primarily in the Russian River Valley AVA and overlaps into Dry Creek Valley a bit. The winery produces over 20 different wines, but in very limited quantities (total annual production is 3,500 cases).
Mueller Winery
Mueller Winery produces Pinot Noir, Syrah, Zinfandel, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. All of their wines are handcrafted in very small quantities, and they are particularly acclaimed for Pinot Noir.
Roshambo Winery
In 1999, Naomi Johnson Brilliant founded Roshambo Winery in the town of Healdsburg. Her late grandfather planted Frank Johnson Vineyards during the 1970s, and grapes from the property quickly became some of the most sought after in Sonoma County.
Russian Hill
Russian Hill Estate specializes in Syrah and Pinot Noir from Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley AVA. In 1997, the winery was founded by husband and wife Edward Gomez and Ellen Mack.
