Shenandoah Valley Wineries (Back to overview)

Shenandoah Valley wineries specialize in Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera, and Sauvignon Blanc. This wine region is the least elevated and warmest AVA in the Sierra Foothills.
Karly Winery
In 1979, Lawrence and Karly Cobb started Karly Winery. They currently make 11,000 cases of wine a year and own 20 acres of vineyards planted with 8 different varietals.
Sobon Estate
Sobon Estate produces organic wines in the Sierra Foothills’ Shenandoah Valley AVA. Shirley and Leon Sobon established the winery in 1989. At the time they already owned Shenandoah Vineyards, which they founded in 1977.
Amador Foothill Winery
Amador Foothill Winery is owned by Katie Quinn and Ben Zeitman. The property is located in the Sierra Foothills about an hour east of Sacramento.
Montevina Winery
In 1970, Carey Gott established Montevina Winery in Shenandoah Valley. The Trinchero Family, (owners of Sutter Home), bought the winery in 1988 to focus on a line of boutique wines.
Story Winery
Like many Amador County producers, Story Winery makes very good Zinfandel. But they also make very small amounts of a much more unusual varietal: the Mission. This was the original grape planted in California by the Franciscans.
Renwood Winery
Renwood Winery is located in the Shenandoah Valley AVA. They make several single vineyard wines, and are one of the better known wineries in the Sierra Foothills.
Bray Vineyards
Bray Vineyards produces several different varietals including Zinfandel, Barbera, Sangiovese, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. The winery is located in the Shenandoah Valley AVA.
