Santa Ynez Valley Wineries (Back to overview)

Most of the best known wineries in Santa Barbara are in Santa Ynez Valley. Andrew Murray Vineyards, Beckmen Vineyards, and Zaca Mesa Winery are popular local producers.
Koehler Winery
Koehler Winery is located just of the Foxen Canyon Trail in Santa Ynez Valley wine country. Winemaker Chris Stanton is best known for his Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and a red blend named "Magia Nera."
Beckmen Vineyards
In 1994, Beckmen Vineyards was established in the Santa Ynez Valley AVA. Soon after buying the property, Tom and Judy Beckmen began renovating the existing winery and vineyards.
Zaca Mesa Winery
Zaca Mesa Winery is located in the Santa Ynez Valley and specializes in Rhone varietals. The winery has owned vineyards since 1972 and was an early advocate of Syrah.
Curtis Winery
Curtis Winery has made a name for itself by producing exclusively Rhone style wines. Their flagship wine is without question Syrah. Curtis’ two vineyards produce Syrah grapes that embody the local geology and climate.
Andrew Murray Vineyards
Andrew Murray Vineyards produces Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne, and Viognier. All of the grapes used to make their wines are hand picked and sorted.
Bridlewood Winery
Bridlewood Winery is an impressive architectural structure built in the mission style. The property underwent a major renovation in 1998 and is a great winery to visit in the Santa Ynez Valley AVA.
Brander Vineyard
Brander Vineyard boasts some of the oldest vines in the area. Their flagship wine is without question Sauvignon Blanc, but they produce several other varietals, including two interesting blends.

what a terrific escape for the fall, but i can see how the summer might see the place overrun. nonetheless, it's far more enjoyable than temecula, and so close to LA. a lot of nebbiolos up there (although i much prefer cabs).

I know how you feel, its heading in the Napa Valley "Disneyland" style atmosphere. I would much rather have intimate tasting experiences with friends.

I love tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley. I've been going there for ten years. It's always been a little piece of heaven for me. The post-"Sideways" boost helps the economy, but the weekend crowds make it tough to enjoy many wineries in one day.
