Edna Valley Wineries (Back to overview)

Edna Valley is often called the, “Burgundy of the Pacific,” but has been equally successful producing Rhone varietals. Local wineries make renowned Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Viognier.
Alban Vineyards
Alban Vineyards is noted for being the first winery in the United States to focus only on Rhone varietals. They make several wines using fruit from their estate vineyards as well as grapes sourced from the Paso Robles AVA. Owner John Alban was one of the original proponents of Rhone varietals in California.
Edna Valley Vineyard
Edna Valley Vineyard is a joint venture between the Niven Family and Chalone Wine Group. Over the years, the property has been a laboratory for Burgundian and Rhone varietals. Several different clones of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah are planted throughout the vineyard.
Domaine Alfred
Domaine Alfred specializes in producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah in the Edna Valley AVA. Their Edna Valley Chamisal Vineyard Pinot Noir was recently ranked #51 on the 2006 Wine Spectator Top 100 list.
Baileyana Winery
Baileyana Winery was established by Jack and Catherine Niven. Baileyana employs Christian Roguenant, who is one of the most influential Burgundian winemakers in the United States. His Pinot Noir is a world class effort.
Ortman Family Vineyards
Ortman Family Vineyards is a relatively new winery founded by an experienced winemaker. Chuck Ortman has worked for several top producers in California. His son Matt assists him at the winery.
