Livermore Valley Wineries (Back to overview)

There are 24 Livermore Wineries that own or farm approximately 3,000 acres of vineyards. These current wine producers are entrusted with the proud grape growing and winemaking legacy of the area.
Concannon Vineyard
The historical significance of Concannon Vineyard cannot be overstated. Founder James Concannon was a very influential, early vintner in the San Francisco Bay Area. More recently, the winery has been turning heads with their Petite Sirah.
Crooked Vine Winery
Crooked Vine Winery is dedicated to producing premium quality wines from grapes grown in Livermore Valley. They may be the newest winery in Livermore, but they produce one of its best Zinfandels.
Wente Vineyards
Wente Vineyards produces many wines using a diverse number of grapes from four vineyards. The Wente Family's property contains a great golf course and restaurant, providing a world class experience.
Cedar Mountain Winery
Located on the eastern side of the Livermore Valley, Cedar Mountain is a small, family owned and operated winery. They are best known for their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

Many San Francisco Bay area locals are unaware or unfamiliar with the Livermore valley. Most of the winieries are located off of 580 just past Pleasanton. If you ever feel like taking a wine tasting trip and don't feel like dealing with the traffic and tourist (and in my opinion many elitist tasting room staff) of Napa and Sonoma, try out the Livermore valley. Concannon and Wente are the two oldest and most well known of the area, but there are also over 70 other small wineries in the area. Every time I go I find a new winery to try. My favorites (as of right now) are Thomas Coyne, Big White House, Charles R, Bent Creek, Deer Ridge, and Les Chenes.
