Stags Leap Wineries (Back to overview)

There are several great Stags Leap wineries located in the southeastern part of the Napa Valley AVA. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates in the hills and a lot of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc is grown at lower elevations near the Napa River.
Shafer Vineyards
Shafer Vineyards stands out in a region where excellence is the norm. Their Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the best wines made in Napa. The expertise of Doug Shafer and winemaker Elias Fernandez is the key to this producer's success.
Clos du Val
Clos du Val was founded by John Goelet and Bernard Portet in 1972. The winery owns vineyards in Stags Leap and Carneros.
Regusci Winery
The Regusci Family has been producing wine since 1932. Angelo and his son Jim make Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that their descendant Gaetano would be proud of.
Stags Leap Wine Cellars
Stags Leap Wine Cellars was founded in 1972. At the 1976 Blind Tasting in Paris, owner Warren Winiarski beat some of the premiere red wines from Bordeaux.
Chimney Rock Winery
Chimney Rock Winery is located off of Silverado Trail in the heart of the Stags Leap AVA. Like many Napa Valley wineries, they specialize in Bordeaux varietals, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Cliff Lede Vineyards
Cliff Lede Vineyards is located on a beautiful, 60 acre estate in the Stags Leap AVA. Along with the winery, the property also contains an art gallery and the Poetry Inn.
Robert Sinskey Vineyards
Robert Sinskey Vineyards is a Stags Leap producer that has also has a major presence in the Carneros AVA. Best known for Pinot Noir and Merlot, the winery makes 25,000 cases of wine a year.
Quixote Winery
Quixote Winery makes small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. Located in the Stags Leap AVA, Quixote also produces the Panza label. Owner Carl Doumani has been a long-time fixture in the region.
Steltzner Vineyards
Steltzner Vineyards is a small family winery in the Stags Leap AVA. Founder Richard Steltzner has been a long-time fixture in Napa Valley’s wine scene. He was far ahead of the curve when he began establishing his vineyards in the 1965.
Hartwell Vineyards
Hartwell Vineyards was founded in 1986 by Bob and Blanca Hartwell. They produce about 3,500 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot each year. Hartwell’s winemaker is Andy Erickson and Mario Bazan is the vineyard manager.
Baldacci Family Vineyards
Baldacci Family Vineyards is a small winery in the Stags Leap AVA. Owner Thomas Baldacci and winemaker Rolando Herrera produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Gewurztraminer.
Reynolds Family Winery
Steve Reynolds dreamed of starting his own winery ever since he lived in Germany when he was a teenager. His inherited his love of wine from his father, who was quite a connoisseur himself.
Silverado Vineyards
Silverado Vineyards has been making wine in Stags Leap for over 2 decades with primarily estate grown grapes. The winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
William Hill Estate
William Hill Estate was founded in 1978 and is currently owned by Fortune Brands. The winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Their Aura Cabernet Sauvignon is particularly noteworthy and is made in limited quantities.
Pine Ridge Winery
Pine Ridge Wine is produced with fruit from five different AVAs in the Napa Valley. They make Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, a Chenin Blanc/Viognier blend, and the flagship Andrus Reserve.
Pillar Rock Vineyard
Pillar Rock Vineyard is owned by Ron and Teri Kuhn. In 1995, they purchased a 23 acre estate in the beautiful Stags Leap AVA. Acclaimed winemaker Cary Gott is in charge of production at Pillar Rock.
Stags Leap Winery
Stags Leap Winery was founded in the late 19th century, and has risen to prominence again after a long interlude. Winemaker Kevin Morrisey recently took the reins from Robert Brittan after almost 2 decades. Brittan revitalized the winery based on Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
