Redwood Valley Wineries (Back to overview)
The 13 Redwood Valley wineries currently located in the AVA have inherited a legacy of excellence that dates back nearly 150 years. Grapes grown in the elevated, moderate climate and well drained terrain have always been in high demand.
Giuseppe Wines
Giuseppe Wines is a small, critically acclaimed producer of Zinfandel. They use grapes from the Redwood Valley wine region and Neese Vineyard in the nearby Calpella Valley.
Elizabeth Vineyards
Elizabeth Vineyards was established in 1969 in the Redwood Valley AVA and has always been a family run operation. They sell most of their fruit to other producers, but have been making small amounts of their own wine since 1987. Elizabeth Vineyards currently makes about 1,000 cases of Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc.
Fife Vineyards
Fife Vineyards is owned by the formidable husband and wife team of Dennis Fife and Karen MacNeil. Both are highly respected wine professionals; MacNeil is a well-known wine writer and Fife has been involved in many aspects of the wine industry for years.
Graziano Wines
Visiting the town of Hopland last year, I was lucky to stumble upon a small tasting room on Highway 101. Graziano Wines are made with a dizzying number of grape varietals; some quite obscure. These wines are made under four labels including Domaine Saint Gregory, Enotria, Monte Volpe and Graziano.
Frey Vineyards
Frey Vineyards is a family owned and operated producer of organic and biodynamic wines. Paul and Beba Frey planted their original vines in Redwood Valley during the late 1960s.
