Red Hills Wineries (Back to overview)
For years, almost all of the grapes grown in Lake County were bought by wineries in neighboring regions. But several Red Hills Vineyards are starting to make their own wines, with exciting results. Look for Cabernet Sauvignon from this emerging California AVA.
Steele Wines
In 1991, Jed Steele founded Steele Wines. He was the founding winemaker at Kendall Jackson and currently has over 40 years of experience in the wine industry. Steele is an expert at blending different vineyard lots to make exceptionally balanced wines.
Kendall Jackson
Kendall Jackson’s home is in the town of Kelseyville right next to the Red Hills AVA. Known primarily for value driven wines, Kendall Jackson also makes the premium Grand Reserve line which includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay.
Wildhurst Vineyards
Wildhurst Vineyards and Winery is owned by the Holdenreid Family. They have been farming in Lake County for several generations. For years, the family grew pear orchards but now they focus on grape growing.
Rosa d’Oro Winery
Rosa d’Oro Winery was established by the Buttitta Family. They have been growing grapes in California for over five decades. Originally from Sonoma, the Buttitta Family moved to Kelseyville in 1991.
