Lake County
Lake County Wine County has recently attracted substantial attention and investment from venture capital. Because Lake County has a very similar climate to warmer parts of Napa and Sonoma, it's no surprise that Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc do extremely well here. You can reference the Lake Country wine country map below.
Lake County Wine Country
The warm, elevated climate and volcanic soils of the Red Hills AVA produces much of Lake County Wine Country’s best Cabernet Sauvignon wine. This was enough to prompt heavy hitters like Jess Jackson and Andy Beckstoffer to invest in the area’s vineyards. Some of the notable local wineries in Lake County include Steele Wines and Wildhurst Vineyards.
Across the lake is the High Valley AVA. This elevated region is an ideal place for sight-seeing in Lake County Wine Country. Brassfield Winery has a beautiful tasting room that is a popular destination in region.
Guenoc Valley is located in the southern part of Lake County Wine Country just east of Mount Saint Helena. Langtry Estate is the only winery in Lake County Wine Country and makes wine under the Guenoc label. It has a very warm climate along with volcanic soils that drain exceptionally well.
